Abstract

A broadband dual-circularly polarized dipole antenna with compact size, high isolation and wide axial ratio bandwidth has been proposed. The antenna consists of two intersecting dipoles and a square reflector. The dipoles are simultaneously fed by a feed network composed of a 90° coupler to produce dual circularly polarization. The coupler is vertically integrated between the dipole and the reflector for space saving. The antenna has a wide 3-dB AR bandwidth(ARBW) of 96% (1.5-4.25 GHz) and a wide impedance bandwidth (IBW) of 100% (1.5-4.5 GHz) for return loss better than 16 dB. In addition, the antenna obtains a stable radiation pattern and high gain across the whole operational band.
