Abstract

This paper presents a broadband, high efficient RF power amplifier (PA) in class-J mode by using a compact output matching structure. Different from traditional structure, the compact output structure is consisted of harmonic-control matching network and fundamental matching network to make the output matching network. Using the commercial device, GaN HEMT Cree's CGH40010, this continuous class-J PA realizes a 50% relative bandwidth with simulated drain efficiency of 71%–74.7% in the frequency range of 1.79–2.21 GHz.
