Abstract

Abstract By introducing a mapping of the quantum XY antiferromagnet onto a hard-core boson model we propose a bosonic quantum model with the relaxed hard-core boson constraint to investigate the low-temperature thermodynamics of the quantum short-ranged XY antiferromagnet. We obtain a general expression of the in-plane staggered magnetization M which is related to hard-core Bose condensation. We calculate the dependence of the in-plane staggered magnetization on the temperature T at low temperatures, and show the ground-state staggered magnetization at T = 0. A formula for the critical temperature T c below which an antiferromagnetic phase appears, is also obtained for all dimensions d > 2.
