Abstract

One of the most important feature of the Biot's theory is the prediction of a second bulk compressional wave (SCW) which propagates with a velocity lower than the velocity of propagation of the wave in the fluid. This SCW or slow wave has only been observed in a few cases. This paper describes the observation of a SCW, which can be related to Biot's predictions, as well as the influence of some fluid properties on the appearance of this wave. Samples are not water-saturated, as was required, but include small air bubbles whose influence in the generation of SCW will be considered.
