Abstract

Biology and chromosomes of gall forming aphid, Baizongia pistaceae (Linnaeus) occurring on Pistacia integerrima were studied. The pre-reproductive, reproductive, post-reproductive periods and total life span were investigated. The diploid chromosome number was found to be twenty four (2n=24). The mean actual length of chromosomes was measured and from this total complement length (TLC) was calculated. The relative length (% of total complement length) ranged from 2.08 ±0.08 in the shortest to 7.18 ±0.31 S.E. in the largest chromosome.
