Abstract

Chromosomes of four species of aphids were studied from Kullu region of Himachal Pradesh, India. These aphid species are Aphis gossypii (Glover), Brevicoryne brassicae (L.), Macrosiphum rosae (L.) and Myzaphis rosarum (Kaltenbach). The diploid chromosome number in these species ranged from 2n = 4 to 2n = 14. The actual lengths of chromosomes were measured at metaphase stage and total complement length (TCL) was calculated for each species. Relative lengths (as percentage of total complement length) of chromosomes were also calculated.
