Abstract

Sandy loam soils are less favoured by farmers due to the nutrient crisis. The conversion of agricultural land every year is a big problem for food security. Sandy loam soil can be an alternative to improve food security. The use of biochar as an agricultural waste organic material enriched with Pleurotus ostreatus biofertiliser can be a solution to the world of agriculture on sandy loam land. This study aims to increase the growth and production of shallots (Allium cepa) in sandy loam soil by applying Biochar rice husk enriched with Pleurotus ostreatus. The research method used a non-factorial Randomised Group Design (RAK) with 4 levels, namely: 1) No treatment, 2) Biochar enriched Pleurotus ostreatus 10 grams, 3) Biochar enriched Pleurotus ostreatus 15 grams and 4) Biochar enriched Pleurotus ostreatus 20 grams. The results of the study were the use of organic material biochar enriched Pleurotus ostreatus rice husk had a significant effect on the observation parameters of sprouting speed, number of shoots, root diameter (πm) and weight of bulbs clump-1 shallot plants. The use of rice husk biochar enriched with Pleurotus ostreatus with the right dose can increase the growth rate and production of shallot plants in sandy loam soil.
