Abstract

The Burgeoning of the Islamic Movements in Indonesia –especially originated from the Middle East- that growing up since authoritarian era have been influencing various institutions in Indonesia, including educational institution in Ex Karesidenan Surakarta region. In this research, I exhibit that Ex-Karesidenan Surakarta region has become a centre of Islamic movement turbulence in Indonesia. Since pre-Independence era, various Islamic ideologies actualize and compete with each other –from traditionalist, modernist, and radical movement- for gaining influence in these regions. This research discusses the implication of contestation among Islamic ideologies in Senior High School that affect the scramble of educational public sphere and interchange cultural symbols in these institutions. This paper attempts to address two main issues; 1) to examine various contestation and hegemony models performed by each of Islamic ideologies for gaining influence in the public educational sphere –epecially Kerohanian Islam (ROHIS); 2) to explore various political ideologies in each Islamic movement that led to different meanings towards Islam, state, and democracy.

Latar Belakang

Transmisi gerakan revivalisme Islam Timur Tengah telah menunjukkan eksistensinya sebagai system of symbolic dan collective identity yang telah berperan penting dalam menciptakan dinamika sosial politik di Indonesia. Melalui pemanfaatan terhadap ruang publik tersebut, terdapat dua varian gerakan revivalisme Islam Timur Tengah yang berkembang di Indonesia, diantaranya; a) Gerakan Islam Salafi yang berafiliasi pada Muqbily-Rabi’y (FKAWJ, Laskar Jihad, dsb), Jihadis (Majelis Mujahidin Indonesia, Jamaah Islamiyah), Surury-Turotsy, mau pun Hajury (ICG, 2004; Hasan, 2005); b) Gerakan Non-Salafi seperti: Ikhwanul Muslimin (Jemaah Tarbiyah), Darul Arqam, Jama’ah Tabligh, Hizbut Tahrir, dsb; Dua karakteristik gerakan ini tumbuh secara bersamaan dan saling bersinggungan satu sama lain dan saling memiliki karakteristik gerakan politik yang berbeda-beda, baik kelompok yang lebih memilih jalur kooperasionis, rejeksionis, jihadis, mau pun tandhimi (Abuza, 2007; Ali, 2013; Wahid, 2014). Tulisan ini juga berupaya untuk melihat implikasi apa yang dihasilkan dari hegemoni ideologi gerakan Islam di institusi ROHIS terhadap persepsi dan praktik keberagaman Islam yang dilakukan oleh setiap aktor yang terlibat dalam institusi tersebut
