Abstract

Abstract Three large scale field plots were established across southcentral Idaho in beans in 1979. Plots were approximately 0.85 acres. Tfiimet, DiSyston, Temik, and an untreated check were replicated three times at each location. The granular chemicals were applied in a narrow band two to three inches directly below the seed at planting on May 24. Soil type was Portneuf silt loam and soil temperatures were 55-60°F. Insect counts were made at weekly intervals by taking 300 sweep samples or counting insects on 10 trifoliate leaves. Phytotoxlcity and yield data were also taken. Alate aphids were counted because of their potential role as vectors of mosaic viruses as they leave cut alfalfa fields or drying grain fields.
