Abstract
Indonesia is well known as “a country with thousands of culture”, and one of the famous Indonesian culture is traditional dance from each ethnic group. Unfortunately nowadays, traditional dance have been eliminated by modern dance, in accordance with people's lifestyles. For traditional dance revitalization, one of the option, is by participating in traditional dance conservation. We can preserve traditional dance by teaching traditional dance at school. Teaching traditional dance at school will give a big impact on its preservation. Nowadays, traditional dance is taught by using books. Unfortunately, using that approach cause the student to lose their interest. To solve the problem on traditional dance preservation, the writer had created an application to enable traditional dance basic movement learning virtually, on this case Remo Traditional Dance. This application equipped with Kinect sensors which can track and give feedbacks to users who learn Remo Traditional dance, based on the Skeletal Tracking method. With this method, the application can locate the joints of the tracked users in space and track their movements over time. The application performance is evaluated based on questionnaires. The application can improve students' appreciation of uniqueness of traditional dance. Moreover, this application can improve student's interest to learn the traditional dance movements that appear on the screen.
