Abstract

Researchers at the Center for the Advanced Study of Educational Administration spent the 1970-71 school year conducting on-site observa tional studies of four schools in their first year of implementing Differenti ated Staffing. This article describes the characteristic course of events in the schools during that year and summarizes the chronic problems of change revealed by the observations. In addition to their association with CASEA, W. W. Charters, Jr., is Professor of Educational Administration and Roland J. Pellegrin is Professor of Sociology at the University of Oregon.
