Abstract

Spectral analysis of changes in the angular velocity vector of a bearing ball can be used to follow changes in ball-lubricant-race coupling in starved operation. Simultaneous measurements of basic speed ratio confirm the changes up to and through a lubricant breakdown failure. Presented at the 36th Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, May 11–14, 1981
