Abstract
Abstract Bacteriophage lambda is a virus that infects the bacterial species Escherichia coli . It is a temperate virus, in that it can either make virion progeny in its host, or establish a state in which its chromosome is integrated into the host chromosome and its own replicative genes are turned off.
