Abstract

The Azna granitoid is one of the western Iranian granitoid suite members, which intruded into the Mesozoic regional metamorphic rocks of the Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic belt. The structural relations and petrofabric features indicate that the pluton intruded during the main deformational phase in the area. The rocks have sub-alkaline, peraluminous and S-type magmatic characteristic High-grade metamorphic restitic enclaves, rich in biotite, are abundant within the granitoid rocks. The Azna granitoid pluton was generated in a syn-collisional ? setting due to the collision of the Afro-Arabian continental plate and the Central Iranian microplate during the Laramide orogeny.
