Abstract
Introduction: Group A Streptococcus (GAS, Streptococcus pyogenes) is a major cause of invasive bacterial illness in children and adolescents. A literature search revealed very limited number of case reports showing an association between GAS pneumonia and atypical Kawasaki disease in a healthy female toddler. Case Report: We report a 2-year-old female who recently migrated from Guatemala presented with GAS pneumonia and empyema treated with thoracentesis, antibiotics and supportive care.
