Abstract

In order to provide information on the development status of the study of shrimp species of the genus Atya native to Brazil, the results of the scientometric analysis of 65 documents published between 1897 and 2022 and registered in the following databases are presented: SciELO Citation Index, BioOne, Science Direct, Scopus, Redalyc, and Google Scholar. This review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement. This study is the first preliminary assessment of the scientific literature on the species Atya scabra and Atya gabonensis. The presented results indicate that A. scabra was more studied (58.46%) than A. gabonensis (35.38%), with 6.15% of the publications on both species. Research on A. gabonensis increased from 2003 (44.23%). The most productive countries are Nigeria and Brazil. The main topics addressed are ecology, nutrition/feeding, reproduction, and genetics, and the least discussed were fishing, aquaculture, pathology/parasitology, toxicology, and physiology. The research highlights the diversity and evolution of the works, guiding future investigations in less explored areas, contributing to preservation strategies, sustainable management, and the development of technologies to reduce environmental impact and the responsible use of natural resources.
