Abstract

ABSTRACT An emerging phenomenon called “campus shared dormitory” has aroused public attention in China. It is a phenomenon of sharing and renting out dormitory’s idle resources on an online platform during summer vacation. This research analyses the phenomenon of “campus shared dormitory” and its attractive factors based on online reviews. Using content analysis, researchers sorted out three key themes: campus theme (including “relive school days”, “beautiful surroundings”, “well-equipped facilities” and “ethnic customs”), accommodation experience (including “good price”, “convenient location” and “high level of safety”) and improvement of university recognition (including “increase university’s visibility” and “rational use of resources”). The results show that the university “shared dormitory” tourism provides an unforgettable, nostalgic experience, enriches travel experience and broadens the concept of tourist destinations.
