Abstract
For years, the US has shaped its Southeast Asia policy depending on the competition of China's rising power against its own hegemony and the military and economic challenge with China. In order to maintain a balance and increase its deterrence in Asia-Pacific and Indo-Pacific, the US tried to progress strategies through alliances by putting its own leadership at the firstplace, and aimed to reduce China's influence in the region; however, it could not eliminate the dominant influence of China in the region. In this study, within the framework of US's deterrence and containment policy approach, by taking advantage of the AUKUS and QUAD alliances the US's goals for the region and its attempts to suppress China are interpreted. The study argues that these policies followed by the US in the region enable China to prioritize its national defense and take more determined steps to increase its security. Yet, in response to the integrated deterrence that the US is trying to manage against China in the region, China has attempted to improve good relations with its neighbors in the region, while it has tended to strengthen its offense and defense systems in order to protect its territorial integrity. Nevertheless, the policies pursued by both sides triggered the arms race in the region and increased the threat perception level of the region to the highest level.
