Abstract
Background: Women´s suicide rates are increasing and at faster rates than men´s suicide rates. Women attempt suicide three times more than men. Numerous studies have also shown a link between depression and cardiovascular disease. However, the association between suicidal ideation and cardiovascular (CVD) mortality has not been investigated in postmenopausal women in a nationally representative sample.
