Abstract

The nursing team is an essential part of the assistance provided to the newborn with surgical conditions. This study conducted a narrative review based on investigating the importance of the care provided by nursing staff during surgical procedures for newborn patients. Six manuscripts previously published in journals in the field of health were selected. The synthesis process sought to discuss and present how the possible interventions are planned in the face of probable complications occurring in the pre, intra and postoperative surgical times. In this scenario, it is possible to understand how the assistance provided by pediatric perioperative nurses is carried out, as well as practices based on scientific knowledge capable of dealing with different types of irregularities in health conditions were investigated, seeking to add knowledge about behaviors aimed at the prevention of preventable deaths.
