Abstract

The importance of the problem of prevention of iodine deficiency for the Russian Federation due to the large number of areas with natural iodine deficiency caused and the need for daily intakes of iodine in the human body. The existing legal framework establishes a voluntary model of mass prevention of iodine deficiency disorders by the use of iodized salt and other means of prevention. Low awareness of the methods and means of prevention of the study draws attention to the topic. The article presents the results of the survey conducted in the south of the Tyumen region on a representative sample of female students by surveying parents (n = 677). Statistical sampling error does not exceed 4%. Most of the parents noted the following sources of information about the problem of iodine deficiency and its prevention: program and transfer of the central television, the attending physician. Significant sources of information are conversations with relatives, friends, colleagues and online sources. There offset sources in the direction of having less confidence in the respondents. The estimates of sources of information about the problem of iodine deficiency is not significant differences depending on the area of residence and age of the respondents. The level of life affects the priority choice of information sources. With the increasing standard of living reduced attention to programs and transfers of central television, obtaining information from conversations with relatives, friends, colleagues, and increases the importance of Internet sources. The data obtained can be used in the practice of health and education services to increase the effectiveness of prevention programs in Russian regions of iodine deficiency.
