Abstract
I was glad to read in the October issue of Physics Bulletin (p455) that the Science Policy Research Unit of Sussex University is to assess criteria used by the Science Research Council (SRC) for capital projects in basic science and it is to be hoped that this will be extended to the whole field of SRC funded projects. Enough time has now elapsed from the start of SRC funding for many hundreds of the completed projects to be assessed for their success and benefits.
