Abstract
We report the assembly of carbon nanodots aligned on the sharp step edges of Si(111)-7×7 reconstruction surface. The self-assembled and well-aligned pyramid-like carbon nanodot array performs metallic transport behavior on the p-type silicon substrate and can be erased from the step edges by flash heating at ∼900 °C. The carbon nanodot array has some potential applications for single electron transistors and bionanosensors.
