Abstract

The article presents different viewpoints of the researchers that describe essential and structural aspects of the concept ‘professional training at pedagogical university’. The essential aspect of the concept accumulates knowledge and ideas about the content, structure, stages, etc. of professional training at pedagogical university. The structural aspect of the concept represents knowledge and ideas about professional training at pedagogical university as a multiple-meaning construct that includes a range of related notions – professional deve-lopment, professional formation, professional maturity, professional readiness, professional competence, competency, etc. Both aspects of the concept under analysis reflect objective rea-lity and the author describes them in connection with existing practice of professional training at pedagogical university. The author highlights the fact that there is a diversity of definitions of professional training at university and it leads to some controversy between them. Thus, the author gives essential characteristics of professional training with reference to pedagogical university practice. The main directions of concept development are given in the conclusion.
