Abstract

Reginaldo Carvalho was born in 1932 in Guarabira-PB, Brazil. He studied with Villa-Lobos, Paul Le Flem and Pierre Schaefer, and was one of the Brazilian pioneers on electro acoustic music in the 1960s. He worked as a music teacher, conductor and composer, and wrote various choral works. This research focuses on his biography as well as on the analysis of his choral compositions, both sacred and secular. The main goal of this study is to define the most important aspects of his compositional style. Keywords: Reginaldo Carvalho; Choral music; Brazilian music.
