Abstract

The article is devoted to artistic and theatrical aspects of Royal coronations within the framework of their representations throughout the history of Russia. An attempt is made to trace the interaction of the following factors: immutability of ceremonial language; artistic and stylistic evolution of art and spatial organization; changes in semantic interpretations of ceremonial imagery. Special attention is paid to the realization of the idea of a national coronation during the last period of the Russian monarchy. This is the first article attracting attention to the opposition of the solemn / popular in the structure of the artistic representation of coronations.
