Abstract

This article explores the mercurial nature of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a reflection of Jung’s concept of the trickster archetype, delving into how AI epitomizes at once the brightest aspirations and the darkest inclinations of the human psyche. Through personal experiences shared by the author from his decades of working in the field of information technology and as viewed through a Jungian lens, this discussion illuminates the psychological underpinnings of our collective engagement with AI technologies, arguing that AI presents ethical and moral conundrums that must be navigated cautiously by the humans who use it.
