Abstract
El inventario y tasación de bienes post-mortem de Fernando Álvarez, arquitecto afincado en Jerez de la frontera durante la primera mitad del siglo XVI, brinda la oportunidad de reconstruir su figura más allá de sus actividades artísticas. Su patrimonio revela una privilegiada situación económica alcanzada tras cuatro décadas de presencia en la ciudad jerezana. La presencia de libros entre sus bienes, de los hay que destacar las Medidas del romano de Diego de Sagredo, descubre una nueva dimensión de Álvarez como artista intelectual y ofrece nuevas claves para comprender su obra.
