Abstract
The evolution of any pair of canonical coordinates of an arbitrary Hamiltonian is given by a Hamiltonian of one and a half degrees of freedom H( p, q, t). An arbitrary action evolves stochastically if its Hamiltonian H is aperiodic in time. If H is periodic, the action can be bounded for all time.
