Abstract

For over ten years, I have taught Appreciative Research as an alternative course to the quantitative and qualitative research methods programs offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Communication Studies Department at San José State University in California. This essay introduces Appreciative Research as an original model of applied research in the field of social sciences and proposes a theoretical/paradigmatic and methodological framework for teaching Appreciative Research as an alternative research course for undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels at the university.
