Abstract

The IMIE (Individual Monitoring of Internal Exposure) computer code is an extension of Internal Dosimetry Support System (IDSS), a multipurpose software developed in the Ukrainian Radiation Protection Institute for investigations in the field of radionuclide biokinetics and dosimetry. The present paper discusses the application of these computer codes for interpretation of in vivo and bioassay measurements. IMIE and IDSS codes have been successfully used for analysis of Chernobyl cases of radionuclide intakes and cases, kindly provided by the IAEA and the EULEP/EURADOS Action Group, in a framework of international intercomparison programmes. New optimisation algorithms have been developed for the reconstruction of a pattern of intake. Time trends of measurements are used for data interpretation. Algorithms involve an interactive numerical deconvolution and recurrent optimisation of the data fitting.
