Abstract

Objective To compare and analyze the effects of QCC on the incidence of peripheral phlebitis for craniocrebral tumor patients after Gamma knife operation treatment. Methods After the establishment of QCC, we selected theme, made plans, analyzed current status and influencing factors and made strategy with members and carried out with plans. We also analyzed the incidence rate and severity of peripheral phlebitis before and after Gamma knife operation for craniocerebral tumor, and compared the relative knowledge understanding of transfusion treatment among nurses and patients and the capacity of nurse to ensure the effects of QCC activities. Results Though the activities of QCC, the incidence of peripheral phlebitis was markedly decreased from 40.54% to 10.53% among craniocerebral tumor patients after Gamma knife operation (P<0.05); and the severity of peripheral phlebitis was alleviated. In addition, nurses and patients improved the understanding of transfusion treatment and some related knowledge. Conclusions QCC reduces the incidence of peripheral phlebitis in craniocerebral area, promotes the standard of transfusion process, and improves nurses′ comprehensive ability and achievements in their work. Key words: Craniocerebral tumor; Phlebitis; Quality control circle
