Abstract

Scientific and methodological research states that one of the current technologies in modern education, in particular in the New Ukrainian School, is the technology of development of critical thinking, which provides cognitive activity and independence of thinking of primary school students. To achieve this goal, the following research methods are defined: theoretical: analysis and synthesis during the development of pedagogical and methodological literature on the research problem, theoretical understanding and generalization of the experience of primary school teachers and their own experience to determine the state of work on critical thinking of junior students, empirical: observation and analysis of Ukrainian language and reading lessons. Critical thinking is described as a purposeful process of thinking that allows primary school students to perceive, analyze, interpret, systematize, evaluate information, performance and choose their own position, argue their own thoughts and actions. The article describes the methods and techniques of critical thinking: logbook, Venn diagram, two-sided diary, text mapping, "Loan position" - defines their purpose and technology, provides the expected results, illustrates the use of methods and techniques in Ukrainian language and reading lessons. As a result of the analysis of the problem we came to the conclusion that in the conditions of modernization of primary education, updating of its content and structure the technology of development of critical thinking primary school pupils of the New Ukrainian school acquires special urgency.
