Abstract

Objective To explore the application value of active care based on Barthel index and disease-management self-efficacy of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Our hospital began to implement the active nursing mode based on Barthel index and disease-management self-efficacy combined evaluation based since April 2016. 66 hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes before the implementation (January 2016 to March) and another 66 hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes after the implementation (April 2016 to May) in our hospital were selected as the research objects. The cases chosen before the implementation were taken as the control group and the cases chosen after the implementation were named as experimental group respectively, and the differences of relevant observation indexes of the two groups after intervention were compared. Results The score of self-care ability, the total efficiency of treatment and nursing satisfaction of patients, doctors and nurses of the experimental group after the implementation were significantly higher than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions The application of the active nursing based on Barthel index and disease-management self-efficacy combined evaluation on patients with type 2 diabetes can significantly improve the diabetes self-care ability, which shows positive effect of disease control, and can improve the nursing satisfaction of patients, doctors and nurses. Key words: Barthel; Self-efficacy; Active nursing; Type 2 diabetes mellitus
