Abstract

Objective To explore the application effect of structured curriculum combined with 5A model in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in rural areas. Methods A total of 120 patients with type 2 diabetes who were not treated with insulin in the secretory department from May 2016 to October 2016 were selected as the research objects. They were randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group, 40 cases of each group. The experimental group 1 and experimental group 2 adopted structured health education course designed by Ji Li'nong et al for non-insulin treatment of type 2 diabetes patients.Experimental group 1 combined 5A model on this basis. The control group was treated with conventional diabetes mellitus education. The scores of diabetes self-management scale(SDSCA) and diabetes knowledge scale of patients in the three groups were calculated before and one month after intervention and three months after intervention, respectively.Fasting blood glucose, postprandial blood glucose, and glycosylated hemoglobin were measured at 3 months after admission and 3 months after discharge, respectively. The intervention effect of each group was compared. Results After course intervention, the diabetes knowledge and self-management behavior of patients in experimental group 1 were higher than those in the experimental group 2.Both experimental groups were higher than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions This course is suitable for rural type 2 non-insulin treatment of diabetes patients, combined with the 5A model can effectively improve rural diabetes patients' awareness of diabetes disease and self-management ability. It is worthy of clinical application.
