Abstract

This article shows the results obtained of the applications of archive organization process (classification, order and description) and the creation of the first historic-scientific documentation center in topics related to the sciences of the sea. It presents the methodological framework and its application in each archive activity that leads to the rescue, preservation and diffusion of the institutional memory of the Maritime General Direction in the Colombian Pacific. With the creation of the Dimar-CCCP Documentation Center and the application of some strategies to keep the information update (Documentaries, inventories), the National Maritime Authority is pioneer in Colombia regarding the managing and conservation of scientific documentation in topics related to the oceanography, marine environmental protection and integrated management of coastal zones, and then, keeps the policies and archives practices according to the current archive law in the country, mainly in the General Law Related Archives 594 of 2000.
