Abstract

Objectives: The research aims to identify the roots of extremist ideas and the role of the family, school, and university in protecting individuals against these ideas.
 Methods: The researcher employed a descriptive approach, using scientific research tools such as observation, questionnaire, interview, and a sample of 200 individuals from various segments of society who underwent the study's sample tests. The sample type was convenience sampling for ease of obtaining participants from the study community, and the sample location was Anbar Governorate (Ramadi City), as the researcher is a member of the researched community.
 Results: The results reveal the role of social upbringing, family, school, and university, along with their administration, staff, and curricula, in promoting a culture of peace and avoiding extremist ideas. The results align with the objectives regarding the roles of the family and school in immunizing individuals against extremist ideas, confirming the congruence between the study's results and its objectives.
 Conclusions: Terrorism is a phenomenon that has accompanied humanity since ancient times, playing a role in various conflicts both in the past and present. The world has defined terrorism in its various forms and throughout all ages, enacting laws that criminalize these criminal phenomena. Despite this, the phenomenon of terrorism has reached a level of complexity, danger, and proliferation, especially in Syria and Iraq, causing a disruption in social structures and tearing apart the social fabric. This necessitated serious efforts to prevent this disease.
