Abstract
Objective: This study examined the effect of career goal development, emotional intelligence and stress reduction on psychological well-being and health safety behavior among teachers working in China. Methods: The data was collected from 350 teachers using convenience sampling. The usable response rate of the study was 58.03%. Result: The findings of the study reveal that emotional intelligence and career goal development have significant effect on psychological well-being. Moreover, health safety behavior was also significantly affected by psychological well-being. Thus, the mediating effect of psychological well-being was confirmed in this study. Conclusion: It is imperative to give importance to career goal development and emotional intelligence for shaping psychological well-being of teachers and their health safety behavior. The study also revealed that not only teachers give proper attention to their psychological well-being, the university management are also accountable to providing healthy work environment by abiding by health and safety procedures, and minimize negative effect on teachers’ health.
