Abstract

The value (in current prices) of exports of animal oils and fats (SITC group 411) has grown in the past couple of years but in 2012 suffered a slight decrease of 2.0 percent and amounted to 6.2 bln US$ (see tables 1 and 2). Imports showed a similar development with a decrease of 5.5 percent and amounted to 5.9 bln US$ in 2012 (see table 3). Graph 1 compares the decrease in exports for 2012 in this product group with the decrease in world exports of inedible crude materials (except fuels), animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes (SITC sections 2+4) of 5.3 percent and the increase in total world exports of 0.3 percent. Exports of animal oils and fats (SITC group 411) accounted for 0.7 percent of world exports of SITC sections 2+4 and less than 0.1 percent of total world exports in 2012 (see table 1).
