Abstract

In 2012, the value (in current prices) of exports of live animals (SITC group 001) continued to grow by 4.2 percent and amounted to 21.9 bln US$ (see tables 1 and 2). During the same period, imports also increased by 4.1 percent to 21.2 bln US$ (see tables 1 and 3). Graph 1 shows that the increase in exports for 2012 in this product group exceeded the increases in world exports of food, live animals, beverages and tobacco (SITC sections 0+1) of 1.2 percent and in total world exports of 0.3 percent. Exports of live animals (SITC group 001) accounted for 1.9 percent of world exports of SITC sections 0+1 and 0.1 percent of total world exports in 2012 (see table 1).
