Abstract
The essay attempts to reconstruct the emotional coding of certain patterns of interpretation, that were for instance used by Ernst Junger, Arnold Gehlen, and Theodor W. Adorno, some of the major cultural critics after 1945 in Germany. All three tried to conceptualize fear as an essential moment of modern world disclosure.
