Abstract
The article shows the genetic but so far rarely researched correlations between concepts of economic theory and the formation of the Neuere Deutsche Literaturwissenschaft at the end of the 19th century. Taking a look at Wilhelm Scherers Poetik, which was posthumously published in 1888, the impact of terms, notions, concepts and methodology of contemporary Nationalökonomie with regard to the development of new ideas of literary aesthetics and theory becomes uncovered.
