Abstract

AbstractIn this chapter, average and top (national) yields of rice, wheat, maize, potato, soybean and rapeseed worldwide from 1961 to 2019 are analyzed respectively using trend-regressed model for understanding their variation tendency in the past. The spatial distribution of top (national) yields of these six major food crops are shown in ArcGIS map. In the context of this book, ‘average yield’ refers to average yield of specific crop worldwide while ‘top yield’ to that from some country whose yield of the crop countrywide being top among all countries in the world in given year. As mentioned in the first chapter, both average and top (national) yields of any crop worldwide evolves following some natural law in a long run, and the top is considered potential limit of the average.
