Abstract
The gas dynamics in the arc quenching discharge chamber with a movable electrode is considered in the study. The gas is injected into the chamber due to the difference in pressure at the initial supersonic velocities. A movable contact is displaced due to compressed gas. The arc is cooled via transverse gas blowing. For numerical simulation free open-source package OpenFOAM connected with swak4foam is used. The task is solved in the continuum mechanics approximation. Some results of gas dynamics parameters calculation and its comparison with the experimental data are presented at the gas boost pressure of 6 MPa.
