Abstract

In recent years, China's new energy vehicle fleet has been growing, and China's new energy vehicle production has reached 3.5 million units in 2021 and is expected to exceed 20% of the country's annual vehicle production in 2023. However, the biggest problem plaguing the industry is the safety of new energy vehicles, especially the lithium battery fire problem (accounting for more than 60%). The paper is mainly proposing improvement measures through the analysis of multiple causes, introducing new materials, new technologies and safe design from the technical point of view to reduce thermal runaway. By grasping the pre-design, process control and testing at all levels from the production and use point of view to improve the yield rate and reduce the problematic batteries into the automobile consumer market, it will surely improve the safety of new energy vehicles significantly and help the healthy and sustainable development of the new energy vehicle industry.
