Abstract
This research aims to find racismdiscrimination encountered by Solomon Northup in “12 Years a Slave”. This novel talks about Solomon Northup’s experience as a slave for 12 years. This research is using the descriptive analysis method and uses the genetic structuralismapproach by Lucian Goldman to describe the data. Racism concept uses Rodney Clark concept to classify racismact in the movie. The result of this research is classified kinds of racism. Kind of Discrimination is classified into two groups, verbal and non-verbal racism. Because racism discrimination is the top social issue, the writers hope that research about racismcan be continued to get a better comprehensive result.
