Analysis of mechanical bi-leaflet heart valve made of biomaterial-polypropylene

Abstract

The heart has four major valves, which are responsible for directing blood flow and producing a pulse. Using reference geometry from [1] Krzysztof Jozwik, Artificial Heart Valves Designs, Medical Engineering & Physics, March 2011, we designed a mechanical bi-leaflet heart valve. The main goal of this article is to conduct an examination of a 3D printable mechanical heart valve made of polypropylene (PP) biomaterial and to compare the findings with other 3D printing materials such as Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS).
