Abstract

Cytokines play an integral part in the coordination and persistence of the inflammatory process in the chronic inflaming of the airways in bronchial asthma since they are capable of inducing many of the pro-inflammatory effects characteristic of this disease. Here, we adopt a machine learning model to identify the important cytokines that cause the inflammation of the lungs and use them exclusively to differentiate between controlled and uncontrolled asthma subjects. The predominant cytokines are primarily identified by a combined feature scoring technique. The asthma controls are classified by deploying the binary classifiers. The best results were obtained with Logistic regression classification technique when applied on the optimal cytokines combination.
