Abstract

Owing to the randomness and instability characteristic of photovoltaic (PV) power, power system may be affected with high PV power penetration. Therefore, a method based on non-sequential Monte-Carlo simulation technique has been proposed to assess the operation risk of power system with PV power station. Firstly, non-sequential Monte-Carlo method is used to simulate the solar irradiance distribution interval and establish the stochastic output model of PV power station. Then the operating states of components and PV power station output are generated by random sampling. Risk indices of power system with PV power stations are calculated based on the risk theory. Finally, the IEEE RTS-79 test system is used to verify the reliability and feasibility of this method.
