Abstract

PENETRATION ANALYSIS IN THE METAL STRUCTURE WELDING ABSTRACT It is highly interesting to know the response of welding equipment and to predict such response as a function of the welding variables inherent to the procedure used. The present work establishes, as a relevant variable, the penetration of carbon-steel welded unions using the GMAW procedure. The behavior of this variable is simulated by mean of response surfaces methodology as a function of gas flow, wire speed, voltage and position of the welding torch. The resulting model is experimentally tested regarding the point for which the optimum response variable is predicted.
